Honey Valley Coorg

The Trip down south ended with Coorg. The oly reference I had of Coorg was through Devika . It was really nice at the Honey Valley estate. I guess I will be organising a sketching trip here. The small hikes around the Honey Valley were really interesting.

Kerela, fort kochin, panchakanam,parier

This was my first ever trip to Kerala, although I have been down south many times but somehow never managed to get here. Meeting Thomas and his family was special. The time spent with Avira at Panchkanam will remain one of the best memories of Kerela. " Burn the Santa" in Fort Kochin was the most Bizzare thing that I have ever come across. The food was awsome and the people were wonderful. Thank you Anu, Thomas and Avira.

Yet another trip to Hingolgadh, it was nice to go back and have our usual slow and casual sketching sessions. A memorable trip of course!Dhrupad was a discovery!

Workshop at Mirzapur, UP

It was speacial to be called in for the workshop at Obeetee, I had a great time with the participants and it was very special to go back to UP and teach in Hindi. Thank you Ustad, Anu, Mandy, Seerat and especially Prateeksha!

Stopped by In Varanasi, I'm glad I did. I had come here as a boy scout when I was just 9 years old, somehow remembered some of the places. The aarti in the evenings viewed from the Ganges will remain as one of most mesmerising sights. Floating the candles in the river was as spiritual as it can get. I used to come quite close to Varanasi by train to drink Toddy.

After being away from my sketchbook and sketching in general it was nice to get started again, although I struggled quite a bit to get back to feeling like myself.. The trip didn't start off well as I lost my Rotring isograph ( the pen I use for sketching ) on the first day, but slowly I managed to find my way. I hope you enjoy the sketches and the mood swings. I will try to be more regular with my posts...apologies to everyone who follows my blog for being away for so long !

Visited the house where Amrita Sher-gil was born. There's not much to see except a lonely tablet which says that she was born in that house...I decided to spend some time in the park in front of the house .

The only thing I have ever liked about the communists is their sense of aesthetics and graphic design, After the fall of the iron curtain someone decided to put these ghosts(sculptures) from the communist past of Hungary and call it the momento park.

Hungary is known for its thermal baths and Spa's.There are some really nice old structures. This one I visited twice as it had a lot of charm. Of course its a great place for people watching.

On my last trip to Ahmedabad Anuj showed me a book with some wonderful compositions, all done with rubber stamps, reminded me of my Million Dollar Hotel days where I used to use number stamps to create big artworks. On my trip to Berlin in July I bought a MUJI alphabet stamp set, it was too cold to sketch anyways so on my way back in the car I did some compositions and a bit of fooling around on photoshop.
