Kala Raksha Vidhyalaya is a design school for traditioal artisans in a small village called Tunda Vand in Mundra, near Mandvi. This is the second course that I am conducting here and its really sad to see how the beautiful landscape has suddenly transformed into a roadshow, big names like Tata an Adani are coming up with their own interpretation of 'development', coal fed Thermal power plants, their chimneys have started dominating the skyline, the craftsmen have been sucked in by the monsters, the camel is not seen anymore and the school has to move to a new location and create space for the green money monster to stretch its arms... we are thinking green!
